Don't be fooled: McCain is the Enemy

Tonight is the Florida primary and I am dissapointed by the outcome:

McCain is winning by 5% over Romney

Gulianni will endorse McCain tomorrow

Hugh is pushing that McCain is better than any democrat

Under no circumstances can I vote for McCain.  He is an enemy to conservatism and will day by day take us down a dark road.  Additionally, Republicans will loose what prestige is left in the GOP.  My top 5 reasons:

Gang of fourteen

McCain-Kennedy

Bush Tax-Cuts

ANWAR

McCain-Feingold

As I see it, a Democratic President will offend the republican base and voters in general will reject them by electing Republican to congress in 2010, if led by a Gingrich-type figure.  Additionally, Clinton or Obama will try to withdraw troops from Iraq (to wide public disapproval), but in the end they will listen to the polls and complete the mission (as evidenced by Nancy Palosi’s failures).

Several points have been raised of why conservatives should vote for McCain:

Judges

The only justice to retire will be Stevens who is 88 – Remember that he is the most liberal on the court, any replacement will be the same or better.  Either way it will have a minimal impact.

Other Federal Judges appointed by Democrats will be damaging, but remember it will only be two years of damage until Republicans control congress again.

An 80% ally is still your ally

If you do the math you will find that McCain consistently scores far less than 80% for conservatives.

Iraq pullout/National Security

As much as the democrats claim an immediate pullout, they will poll and find that both houses of congress will change hands if they make the attempt.

Few National Security matters will change within a two year span.  A new congress can stop the decay and rebuild again with a conservative leader in 2012.

A Republican in the end is a Republican

It is easier to fight the good fight when your enemy is on the other side.  With McCain as the leader of the Republican Party, conservatism will take a back seat to compromise.

Say what you will, but sometimes taking a step backward to allow your enemy to hang themselves, can lead to leaps forward and the net gain will be much greater than a misstep forward with McCain.
